When selecting a gate motor, the daily cycles (traffic), the gate size and weight need to be established before the correct motor can be identified, power supply and access control also need to be considered so the correct optionals can be provided.
Generally residential gates have low daily cycles, whereas complexes, apartment building, estates, commercial and industrial properties have high daily cycles and require motors suitable for this.

It is not wise to choose a gate opener that is too light for the application just to save costs, in the long run this will cost you a lot more with high maintenance, wear and tear and a short service life requiring replacement in a short period.
